The same bekerschroef with the gilt figure of Bacchus holding the glass aloft on his left shoulder is used in several other still lifes by Koets, including one that was sold in these Rooms on 19 July 1973, lot 193, and in another panel, signed and dated 1646, once recorded in the van der Meer collection, Amsterdam (see Vroom, op. cit., p. 85, no. 415). Dr. Fred G. Meijer endorsed the attribution to Koets in 2018 after first-hand inspection.
