A note on the provenance:
Lady Anne Rushout was the eldest daughter of John Rushout, Baron Northwick of Northwick Park (1738-1800), and an accomplished artist in her own right. In 1817, her maternal uncle George Bowles died and she inherited Wanstead Grove in Essex, where she ordered the existing house to be demolished and built a new mansion in its place. The magnificent house and its beautifully laid-out gardens were entirely of Anne’s own design, and she resided there until her death in 1849.
