A VICTORIAN SILVER AND CUT-GLASS CRUET STAND
MARK OF ROBERT GARRARD, LONDON, CIRCA 1840
Shaped oval on four scroll feet, the plain bombé body with scroll border and grapes terminals, applied on each side with an Earl's coat-of-arms and coronet, the frames with scrolls and grapevine, with two facetted cut-glass bottles with silver mounts, the bottles engraved with the earl's full armorials, marked under base, under frames and bottle covers with maker's mark only, the wing nuts with standard mark
12 in. (30 cm.) wide
40 oz. 3 dwt. (1,250 gr.) weighable silver
The arms are those of Berkeley for Thomas Moreton FitzHardinge Berkeley, 6th Earl of Berkeley (1796-1882) of Berkeley Castle, Gloucestershire.
