Lot Essay

Bessière & Schneider were registered as working in Geneva from 1805-1808. They are recorded in H. Williams, Enamels of the World 1700-2000 The Khalili Collections, 2009. The collection contains several pieces by this maker. Bessière & Schneider, despite only remaining in partnership for a short period of time, are credited with creating a small group of extremely high-quality enamel work, specialising in boxes painted as flowers, animals or baskets of fruit.
