Lot Essay

COW CREAMERS
The majority of cow creamers are by the Dutch born silversmith John Schuppe (see lot 101), who entered his mark in 1753, however, there are rare examples by Edward Aldridge. Another of 1772 was sold Christie's, London, 26 March 1958, lot 147, with a later inscription dated 1826 and a further example of the date was offered Sotheby's, New York, 17 October 2008, lot 233.
