On square plinth with foliate scroll borders, the ovoid body on beaded spreading foot partly fluted and chased with drapery swags, the detachable cover with foliate scroll and rosette border, on a matted ground, and with flame finial, engraved with a coat-of-arms within oval cartouche, in fitted silk lined leather case, marked underneath, inside the body and on cover
the vase 4 3/4 in. (12 cm.) high
2 oz. 17 dwt. (90 gr.)
The arms are those of Brocas quartering des Roches impaling Hunter quartering Barnard, for Mrs Harriet Brocas (1742-1819), of Wokefield, Berkshire, daughter of Henry Lannoy Hunter (1709-1768) and widow of Bernard Brocas (d.1777), of Wokefield.
