A charming Raymond Briggs fairytale illustration. 'The Real Princess', from Hans Christian Andersen's 'Princess and the pea', was among 32 of the world's best-loved fairytales selected by the American writer and authority on children's literature, Virginia Haviland, for a compendium published in 1972. She chose the British artist Raymond Briggs to illustrate the volume; Briggs would go on to win the second of his Greenaway Medals for children's book illustration the year after The Fairy Tale Treasury was published.
