'A scarce treasure for the collector' (Dunbar). This work was published in Paul Gerard's series 'Cream and Gold Presents appropriate for marriage, birthday and festive occasions for all seasons'. Beautifully hand-coloured and lithographed throughout, The Night-Flyers captures 10 varying species of moth and depicts them against a backdrop of vibrant flora and fauna. Dubar p.56.
Large octavo (271 x 183mm). Contemporary hand-coloured title, dedication leaf and 10 plates, with text in pink and with decorative borders, two of which are finished in contemporary hand-colour, titles in gilt, publisher’s ads at end, lithographed throughout (very light and occasional finger-soiling). Publisher’s lacquered mottled boards, upper cover with intricate foliate borders stamped in gilt, lithographed floral endpapers, gilt edges (corners bumped, sometime expertly rebacked).
