Lot Essay

Launched in 1933, the Patek Philippe reference 600 pocket watch was one of the brand’s most iconic and popular models ever produced. Officially named the “Modern” when released, it's incredible Bauhaus design and refinement have kept it looking just as timeless, contemporary, and beautiful today as it did when released exactly 90 years ago.

The present reference 600 was one of the most luxurious and special offerings of the reference in the catalog. Crafted from solid platinum with 3 baguette cut and 8 round diamonds as hour markers, the pocket watch’s allure is only elevated with a seldom seen and highly rare Spaulding Gorham signature, a jewelry store based out of Chicago. Further, the case is made by Eggly & Cie. (Geneva Key 23) rather than the more common Emile Vichet (Geneva Key 9), adding to its charm and rarity. Paired with the timepiece is a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives dating the watch to 1940 which aligns with the internal caseback engraving that reads “To Lou, From Mother and Dad, June 8th 1941,” making the timepiece a special gift to covet and cherish.
