the case with break arch top, pierced gilt-brass sound frets to the sides and Corinthian columns to the front, above ripple-moulded inverted breakfront base with brass bun feet, the brass dial with silvered chapter ring with matted centre, cherub mask and foliate spandrels, with subsidiary rings in the arch for chime/silent, slow/fast and eight bells/Westminster chimes, the substantial three chain fusee movement with anchor escapement with pin barrel chimes on eight bells and four gongs, with hour strike on further gong -- 26¼in. (66.5cm.) high
