Lot Essay

This early, experimental Sonambient dates to the first years of Harry Bertoia’s experiments with Tonal sculptures. The base, constructed of a swirl of forged bronze, is nearly unique in the works of Bertoia, and illustrative of the experimentation of Tonal sculptures before utilizing naval brass plates in subsequent years.
