Property from Dr. Kuo Fang-Chou family collection (Lots 145 - 162)Dr. Kuo was a well known ophthalmologist in Taipei, Taiwan. Born into a family of doctors in Chiayi, Taiwan, he continued the family tradition and graduated from Taipei Medical College. He served as the Chief of Ophthalmology at Taipei Renai Hospital while maintaining a private practice. Dr. Kuo’s profound interest in Chinese history and art was influenced by his father’s appreciation of Chinese literature and expertise in Chinese calligraphy. Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Kuo loved reading books on Chinese art, frequently visiting the National Palace Museum, and participating in auctions in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China. Dr. Kuo built an extensive collection of ancient Chinese works of art, paintings, and calligraphy. These works were passed down through the family, and are a testament of his love of Chinese art.
