The artist’s own copy of a rare set of 14 woodcuts, principally of industrial subjects including ‘Minesweepers’, ‘Tugs’, ‘Tarmac’, ‘Black Country’ and ‘Blast Furnaces’. Edited by the art critic Herbert Furst (1874-1951), the Modern Woodcutters series showcased the works of 4 artists in publications dating from 1920-1921. The 14 works by Wadsworth were selected from an exhibition held at the Adelphi Gallery in 1919.
Quarto (260 x 192mm). 14 woodcut illustrations (some spotting). Original printed wrappers (covers detached, lightly chipped and creased). Provenance: Edward Wadsworth (1889-1949) – by descent to the present owners.
