Lot Essay

A preparatory study for one of the engravings in Thomas Salmon’s book Lo stato presente published in Venice by G.B. Albrizzi in 1739-1756. Another drawing by Zucchi preparatory for a different plate in the same volume was sold at auction (Christie’s, New York, 24 January 2001, lot 69).
