Descriptif du lot

Son of Francesco Zucchi, Antonio was active in Venice, London and Rome. In 1781 he married the painter Angelica Kauffman and together they later moved to Rome. A comparable drawing by Zucchi, similar in format and technique, is in New York at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (inv. 2008.148). Interestingly, the present sheet was in the collection of the painter Paul Sandby, Zucchi’s friend and fellow artist.
