Lot Essay

There are two known versions of this work, one (illustrated in Jason and Thompson-Pharoah's 1994 publication, The Sculpture of Frank Dobson) which is without the integral bronze base, and one (the present work) which is with the base. There are known to be at least three casts of the version with a base.
