From a series of 'The Five Senses', modeled as two robed figures, one eyeing a piece of fruit in his hand, a small bottle in the other, his breeches painted with a moon and stars, his companion holding a cup before a basket full of further bottles, on a rocaille-cast base issuing a tree mounted with tôle-peinte and porcelain flowers, the porcelain figures adapted to the base but apparently original

The 'C' Couronné Poinçon was a tax mark used on any alloy containing copper between March 1745 and February 1749.

For another example of this rare porcelain group, alternatively known as the 'The Chinese Quack Doctor and Assistant', in the Victoria and Albert Museum (museum no. C.103-1938), see P.
