Lot Essay

On this gem, the goddess is depicted wearing a crested helmet and a long tunic. She holds a large circular shield that obscures her upper body, and carries a trophy diagonally over her shoulders. The gem is mounted as a ring in a 19th century gold setting; hallmarked RJ 18 on the interior.
