With their distinctive and boldly carved spirally-reeded legs, this pair of consoles is a remarkable example of Neapolitan furniture from the late 18th century. They are closely related to a white-painted and parcel-gilt console currently in the collection of the Museo Correale, Sorrente, Naples which has almost identical legs and was most likely executed in the same workshop as the present lot.
