Serial Number 2
Operator console with inbuilt keyboard to desk and display screen with swivel chair

The CDC DD60A is a production prototype of the operator console for the 6000 series computer or the 6600. The designer Seymour Cray famously did not want his machines to have blinking lights, so this console is the only location where an operator could have observed the state of the machine. Cray would eventually leave CDC and go on to found Cray Research. For further information on Seymour Cray and his revolutionary work, please see notes on the CDC 6500, Cray-1, and Cray-2 supercomputers.
