Lot Essay

A large water gate channels water from the Arakawa River (荒川) into farmland. A farmer leads a horse carrying sacks filled with grass, while two seated fishermen cast their lines. In the distance, Mount Fuji, covered in snow, captures their attention. The unique composition here depicts Mount Fuji seen through the rectangular frames of the wooden water gate.
