Lot Essay

This helmet is formed of hammered sheet and has a carinated ridge around the dome that peaks above the forehead where it merges with the median ridge. It also features a short neck-guard, a nose-guard and forward-curving, crescentic cheek-guards. Around the perimeter are the remnants of a now-missing decorative border. For a nearly identical example, see no. X84 in Hixenbaugh, op. cit.
