A Japanese fan painted with a coat of arms, probably that of a German nobleman with motto Stolz und Treu, the shield gules three fleur de lys argent, the crest three peacock feathers issuing from a red cone, with two fleur de lys on sticks, incorporating a gothick monogram E.C., the leaf painted with grapes and gentians, the verso with cranes, the sticks lacquered with Hiramakie, the guardsticks lacquered in pink and gold with birds and flowers - 12in.
