From a Shahnama of Firdawsi, opaque pigments heightened with gold on paper, with 2ll. black nast'aliq above and 7ll. below arranged in four columns with one line set diagonally, set within gold rules, the reverse with 17ll. of which 2ll. set diagonally, the margins plain, catchword, mounted, framed and glazed

The style of this scene - with a rounded horizon against a golden sky with swirling white clouds - can be compared to other folios from manuscripts copied in Shiraz during the second half of the 15th century, including examples sold in these Rooms, 26 October 2023, lot 55, and 31 March 2022, lot 58.
