Asavari Ragini is the fourth wife of Shri Rag. The name Asavari derives from the ancient Savara tribe, who were believed to be snake charmers. In our painting the Asavari is shown stroking a snake, the cooling body of serpent relieving the burning passion the heroine feels for her lover.
