Lot Essay

The knot count measures approximately 8V x 8H knots per cm. sq.

The combination of the 'Tree-of-life' design, the inscription cartouches in the border, and lustrous silk and supple texture resemble a silk Tabriz rug in The George Farrow collection which sold in these Rooms, 25 April 2024, lot 210. Further Tabriz rugs with calligraphic borders were sold in these Rooms 19 November 2010, lot 786 and 25 October 2018, lot 331.
