Property from a Private European Collection (Lots 113-119)Christie’s is honoured to offer this collection of Chinese and Korean textiles in Art d’Asie and Art of Asia online this December. The current owner built the collection over the last thirty years, forming close relationships with specialists within the field along the way. Most of the textiles were acquired from the major international auction houses in London, Paris and New York including Christie’s and Sotheby’s. A selection was also included by the Finnish Museum of Theatre, Helsinki, in the exhibition “The Story of the Chinese Theatre”, 20 October 1997 – 9 February 1998.

The present lot may be compared with a court robe in the Metropolitan Museum of Art , New York, accession No. 30.75.6; and with the robe published by Linda Wrigglesworth and Gary Dickinson in The Imperial Wardrobe, 1990, plate 144.
