Lot Essay

In 1969, Charlotte Perriand's husband, Jacques Martin, went back to Tokyo to oversee Air France's Asia Pacific network. Perriand visited him twice and remodeled his residence in a modern building. She used shoji with washi paper, free-form, minimalist furniture, like the present low table, and traditional Japanese sudare (screens) to filter natural light.
