of tapering moulded circular form and on rising bases, the teapot with rising curved spout, scroll handle and domed hinged cover with foliate and berry baluster finial, the lidded sugar bowl with conforming finial and two applied scroll handles, the cream jug also with scroll handle, each engraved with a rococo floral, foliate, scale work and C-scroll cartouche with inscription: "Presented to Capt. Henry Christie & Lady, of British Ship 'Shand' of Liverpool by the Owners, Capt. Winso, Officers and Passengers of the American Ship 'Golden Light' of Boston Burnt at Sea, Feb.22d.1853 As a token of Gratitude for their unlimited kindness bestowed upon the Capt. Officers, Crew and Passengers, after rescuing them from their perilous situation", the teapot and sugar basin also with a conforming vacant cartouche, Bigelow, Bros. & Kennard, Boston, each also impressed: "Coin" - height of teapot 6¼ in. (15.75cm), 51oz. (3)
