on rising circular bases cast with foliage and tied laurel wreaths, the stems formed as three putti, the sockets cast with cherub's masks and swags, each with a beaded drip pan and plain nozzle - 9¾in. (25cm.) (2)

Lot Essay

By repute this pair of candlesticks were given to Dr. H.C. Billings, an ancestor of the vendor, by the Grand Duchess of Russia, sister of the last Tzar of Russia.
