‘Drawn in Swanage in the spring ... when Conder stayed at the lodging house of Mrs Everitt with John. Two other Slade students, Miss Monsell and The Hon. Daisy Legge were also staying there. … “Barlow” was a nickname of Conder.’ (Sheffield, 1967)
