Lot Essay

A longquan vase of comparable size and with similar dragon heads suspending fixed ring handles was sold at Sotheby’s Hong Kong, 8 October 2013, lot 3010. Another similar vase in the Zhejiang Provincial Museum is illustrated by Shen Qionghua, illustrated in Sailing from the Great Yuan Dynasty, Relics Excavated from the Sinan Shipwreck, Beijing, 2012, p.140. The present vase is a superb example featuring beautiful glaze of even blue-green tone.
