unsigned, with silvered brass hour-ring, spring-loaded gnomon, the folding latitude arc engraved 0°-55°, the silvered compass dial with level and cross-bubble, the needle with jewelled cap on pivot with clamp, the compass face divided in four quadrants, the horizontal plate engraved with the latitudes of four Russian cities, with three levelling screws, in plush and silk-lined shaped case -- 6¼in.
