A late 19th-Century lacquered and oxidised-brass Van Heurck-pattern compound binocular microscope,
with rack and pinion coarse focusing, micrometer fine adjustment, graduated double body-tube, additional monocular attachment, triple nose-piece, mechanical slide stage over the circuit stage with rack adjustment and engraved circle, the sub-stage with similar adjustment, fitted with abbe condenser by C. Baker with iris diaphragm, with plano-concave mirror (possibly later), the tripod stand signed W. WATSON & SONS, 313 High Holborn, LONDON, with four additional eyepieces and four objectives, in fitted mahogany case -- 15½in. (39.4cm.) high
