Lot Essay

"Rackham's drawings first appeared in magazine form, in several parts, bound in wrappers, in 1901 and 1902. The subscribers' edition was published in 1901, but probably one volume at a time to form a 3 volume set, the same as with the wrapper edition. A few of these drawings first appeared in Cassell's Magazine in 1896." [Riall]
