Further details
This Owl is perhaps the most aggresive of the Owl species towards human intruders at the nest. The English naturalist David Attenborough had to wear a protective helmet when climbing to the nest of a Great Grey Owl in his Television series The Living Planet. The Owls are found in a broad northern belt right around the Artic Circle. This area extends from northern Scandinavia across the north of Siberia to Mongolia and Sakhalin Island and through western Alaska south into the Rocky Mountainsand east to the Great Lakes. The facial disc, seen from the front is the largest, roundest and perhaps most perfect of any owl.
