"One's initial reaction to this painting could be one of sorrow and sympathy. The success of a cheetah and its ability to survive and raise young depends entirely on the success of the flora and fauna lower down the food chain. This scene has no sorrow in it for me, just one of hope and reassurance that the "system" is still functioning. Sentimentality is a human trait and should not be confused with nature."
