In 2011, De Bethune won the 'Aiguille d’Or', the highest distinction awarded by the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève (Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prize), for its DB28 model. The present timepiece is numbered 21 out of 50 examples, in which the Maison offered two different limited editions of the DB28 to celebrate their incredible achievement.

Symbolic of the Aiguille d’Or, this edition includes a gold power reserve hand visible through the display caseback. The timepiece showcases several of the company’s groundbreaking patented innovations, including the now-famous three-dimensional spherical ‘rolling’ moon phase (patented 2004) and the triple pare-chute shock-absorbing system (patented 2005). The case features De Bethune’s ingenious and highly comfortable ‘floating lugs,’ patented in 2006, which have become a signature of the brand.
