Launched in 1997 and produced until 2006, the Patek Philippe Aquanaut reference 5065 was one of the earliest models from the line and helped create the foundation of the now-collector desired timepiece.
Succeeding the original reference 5060 that measured 36 millimeters in diameter, the 5065 was improved with a larger 38 millimeter case, leading to its nickname as the 'jumbo'. Iconic to the model, the watch features a high-tech composite rubber strap in which the dial replicates the 'grenade' pattern. At first, the watch was not popular amongst astute collectors of Patek Philippe watches, but many years later including today, it has become one of the most desirable and coveted watches from the storied Maison.
