Mary Newcome Schleier proposed a dating of 1685-92 for the present work, citing similarities between the profile of Minerva and the figure of Venus crowning Adonis in Guidobono's ceiling at the Palazzo Andrea Pitto in Genoa (Kunst in der Republik Genua, loc. cit.)
