Lot Essay

Elegantly engraved with a heron facing to the right, with chamfered edges on the reverse and pierced for suspension as a pendant. For the tabloid shape see J. Boardman, Greek Gems and Finger Rings, London, 1970, p. 315, no. 291 and for a similar heron see Boardman op. cit, no. 934.
