Lot Essay

The earrings are adorned with pearl pendants and larger openwork triangular pendants threaded with a long chain, decorated with three small sheet gold discs repoussé stylised frontal heads. Les Objets Byzantins et Post-Byzantins, Strasbourg, 1957, pp. 13-14, for a similar necklace (Stathatos Coll. ST 518 a), in the National Museum in Athens.
