Lot Essay

The two figures depicted are the Daoist immortals Lu Dongbin (identified by the flywhisk held in his right hand) and He Xiangu. Compare a Tianqi-marked dish with a very similar figural design at the British Museum (acc. no. 1945,1016.27).
