Newspaper cuttings from 1966 refer to The Beatles tour of Australia as ...the biggest bargain in showbusiness history, in July 1963 the tour's Australian promoter Ken Brodziak when visiting London was offered a number of artists but chose The Beatles because their name caught his eye. After he made the booking The Beatles careers took off. Brodziak had booked the group for a modest sum of 5000 for 12 performances and as the group's popularity boomed Cyril Berlin, Brodziak's representative in London became increasingly concerned as they only had an agreement, not a signed contract with Brian Epstein ...Many managers might have tried to get out of an agreement, but Brian Epstein, despite more lucrative offers from competitors, never attempted to do so. Epstein cabled [Brodziak]..."I made an agreement and I will stick to it. The Beatles will come to Australia". As the Beatles had been booked at such a bargain price, Brodziak added an extra couple of days to the tour and from these dates Epstein and The Beatles received most of the proceeds.
