Lot Essay

Launched in 1981 and produced until 1998, the Patek Philippe 'Squelette' (French for skeleton) reference 3878 is one of the most incredible and artisanal watches to behold. In total, it is believed that approximately 500 examples of this reference were manufactured.

Featuring a completely skeletonized caliber 240SQ, the movement as well as the case have been intricately hand-engraved, showcasing the mastery of Patek Philippe's artisans and watchmakers.
