Lot Essay

Tim Scott (b. 1937) studied sculpture at St Martin’s School of Art under Sir Anthony Caro. He would go on to become Caro's colleague at St Martin's and his lifelong friend. Scott was part of the ‘New Generation’ of sculptors in the mid-1960s in London. He began his career by working with a mix of materials, including acrylic sheets and glass, and eventually moved to working exclusively in steel, as can be observed in the present piece.
