Lot Essay

Referencing the original Gerald Genta designed “Jumbo” reference 3700/1A of 1976, the 5711/1R draws striking similarities in design to the original models but also offered a modern update with a new case size which is 1mm. larger than its predecessor and made in three-parts rather than the two-part cases of the original Nautilus. In fact reference 5711 had three generations of movement caliber starting with the 315 SC from 2006 to 2007, which was quickly followed by caliber 324 SC from 2007 to 2019 and finally caliber 26-330 SC which introduced a hacking seconds feature to the model and was in use until its discontinuation in 2021. The rose gold bracelet model quickly focused the attention of Patek Philippe collectors, it is highly sought after and considered as a must-have within contemporary collections.
