Lot Essay

Breguet no. 1039 is an exceptional example of one of the exceedingly rare triple calendar wristwatches made by the firm between the late 1940s and early 1950s. Study of the Breguet archives suggests that only around five such calendar watches were ever made. The appeal of the present watch is greatly enhanced by the gilt dial, rendering it a most unique appearance. Triple calendar chronographs by the celebrated house of Breguet are a connoisseur's choice and of immense desirability on the market.
