This superb Annual Calendar Flyback Chronograph reference 5905/1A-001 is the latest iteration of the always sought-after reference 5905, but for the first time it is cased in stainless steel, giving the watch a distinctly sporty vibe that places it alongside the iconic steel sporting timepieces, the Nautilus and Aquanaut.
The present watch, one of Patek Philippe’s most highly desirable recent releases is offered in absolutely pristine condition.
Attention is immediately drawn to the exquisite ‘sunburst’ olive green dial with gold applied hour markers, and to the 42 mm. steel case and steel bracelet which are enhanced by contrasting polished and satin finishes.
The automatic movement Caliber CH 28‑520 QA 24H visible through the sapphire crystal back allows, due to a vertical disk-type clutch, the central chronograph seconds hand to be used as a constant running seconds if required. The patented Annual Calendar automatically takes account of 30- and 31-day months, requiring only one correction per year, on March 1st.
Reference 5905 is descended from reference 5960, Patek Philippe’s first Annual Calendar Chronograph, launched in 2006. In 2015, the blue dialled, platinum cased reference 5905 was introduced with a new calibre that married an annual calendar with a 60-minute self-winding flyback chronograph. At Baselworld 2019, Patek Philippe unveiled a rose gold version with a sumptuous brown dial. The present stainless steel reference 5905/1A-001 was released in 2021.
