Lot Essay

Art critic Clement Greenberg notably called Arnold Friedman "one of the best painters this country has ever produced" shortly after the artist's passing in 1946. Examples by the artist are in important institutional collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Museum of Modern Art in New York, among several others.
